WHAT IS EEG

WHAT IS EEG

EEG (electroencephalography) is a non-invasive method of recording the brain's electrical activity. By placing small sensors on the scalp, we measure brainwave frequencies — your brain’s natural signals that influence how you think, feel, and perform.

Each brainwave frequency is linked to a specific mental state, and abnormalities in these patterns can contribute to or worsen symptoms.

QUANTITATIVE EEG (qEEG)

QUANTITATIVE EEG (qEEG)

qEEG takes EEG a step further. It uses a 19-channel EEG cap to collect data from across the brain, which is then analysed against a normative databases. This creates a detailed "brain map" that identifies areas of overactivity, underactivity, or network dysregulation.

EEG shows us the raw signals. qEEG helps analyse the data.

WHAT CAN QEEG REVEAL?

WHAT CAN QEEG REVEAL?

Theta

REGION

The qEEG mapping can reveal dysregulation in different areas of the brain. Each region of the brain supports different functions. E.g., frontal lobes: planning, focus, self control.

Theta

Theta 4–8Hz

FREQUENCY

Brainwaves function at different frequencies. Excess slow-wave activity (such as theta) in the frontal regions, common in ADHD, can drive symptoms.

CONNECTIVITY

Brain networks facilitate functions like focus and self-regulation – disrupted functional connectivity can contribute to symptoms, especially in ADHD.

QEEG HELPS EXPLAIN THE "WHY" BEHIND SYMPTOMS LIKE

Trouble focusing

Emotional reactivity or anxiety

Brain fog and fatigue

Slow recovery after concussion

QEEG-GUIDED NEUROFEEDBACK

QEEG-GUIDED NEUROFEEDBACK

Every neurofeedback protocol at Headquarters is built on your qEEG . This lets us target the right regions, frequencies, and networks to help support outcomes such as:

  • Improved attention and focus

  • Reduced impulsivity (esp. in ADHD)

  • Better emotional regulation

  • Enhanced cognitive clarity

  • Faster recovery from post-concussion symptoms

No guesswork. Just data-driven, personalised brain training.

THE BRAIN MAPPING PROCESS

THE BRAIN MAPPING PROCESS

  1. INTITIAL CONSULT

Discussing your symptoms, health history, goals, and medications helps ensure a more accurate understanding and analysis of your qEEG brain mapping.

  1. QEEG SETUP

In clinic, we record brain activity using a 19-channel EEG. You’ll be seated comfortably while the technician fits an electro-cap and ear electrodes. The cap is filled with a conductive gel (a salt solution) to ensure optimal connection between the electrodes and your scalp.

  1. SCANNING

Once the setup is complete, we record two 5-minute resting-state EEGs: one with eyes open and one with eyes closed. The EEG procedure is safe, painless, and requires no active tasks during the session.

  1. DATA PROCESSING & ANALYSIS

Your EEG data is processed and analysed by a neuroscientist using advanced software to map brainwave patterns and identify deviations from typical activity. These insights guide the creation of a personalised neurofeedback training plan.

  1. RESULTS

We review your qEEG results, explain key brainwave patterns, and outline a personalised neurofeedback plan based on your goals.
